Interview with Leanette Sithole

April 29, 2016

Leanette has been an important part of A Spring of Hope since we first met her at Beretta Primary School in 2005 and promised to drill a borehole at her school. Since then, she’s transformed Beretta Primary into a model of permaculture and academic success. We are proud that such a tireless and dedicated woman has joined the A Spring of Hope team as our Permaculture Manager! In this story, Peach Ratshana sits down with Leanette and talks about Beretta, water, and her passion for permaculture.

World Water Day | March 22, 2016

World Water Day is an opportunity to focus attention on a natural resource that all our lives and livelihoods depend on. It is a day on which to be inspired and take action to make a difference for those who can’t take water for granted. For A Spring of Hope, it means drawing attention to, and asking donations for, the basic fundamentals of our program, boreholes, permaculture, and sanitation. For 2016, our learners told us what #WaterIs to them.

A good head and a good heart
are always a formidable combination.

Nelson Mandela

Mandela Day Celebration

July 18, 2015

We celebrated Nelson Mandela’s birthday in New York at Madiba Restaurant in Harlem on July 18th. We remembered Madiba by joining hands with him with a special commemorative poster and celebrated this great man and his contributions to making this world a better place! Our goal was to raise funds for two schools – Nkalane Primary School and Thandokazi Primary School – that were close to his heart in his home village of Qunu.

The special commemorative poster “Join Hands with Mandela” is still available for purchase in our store.
