Winter 2022 Updates

School is Back In Session

This past January, our partner schools welcomed their students back for the new school year. Students are back to their normal schedule attending school everyday Monday-Friday. Our partner schools are continuing mask wearing and social distancing to keep their students and teachers safe. We know that it will be a great year for students and we look forward to cheering them on with their academics and extracurriculars.

Our focus for this school year is to help our schools get their gardens up and running, introduce our Girls’ Club to more of our partner schools and distribute menstrual hygiene cups to students in need.

Mina Cup Workshops

Next week we are hosting a Mina Cup workshop for girls in Acornhoek who have been struggling to attend school due to their periods. We will distribute the menstrual hygiene cups to these girls to help them during their periods each month. Interested in learning more about this program? Permaculture Workshops Are Back!

Due to COVID19 restrictions, we were not able to host a Permaculture Workshop last year. February 17th, we will be having our first Permaculture Workshop of 2022! This workshop will be focused on teaching our partner schools’ principals and staff about the importance of permaculture and how to best set their gardens up for the upcoming season. We look forward to sharing permaculture knowledge with our partner schools and encouraging them to get their hands dirty and expand their gardens.
