21 Jan 2014 Maranatha Creche Gets a New Playground
Our current project is to drill a bore hole at the Maranatha Creche. Located in a rural area outside Acornhoek in Mpumalanga, the creche currently looks after approximately 75 children on a daily basis. The facilities are sparse – a one-room classroom with no kitchen and only rudimentary sanitation facilities. While the children are happy and well-cared for by the loving proprietors of the school, we would like to help improve their lives and the lives of the people in the community with the addition of a well. As with the other schools we have worked with, access to fresh water has allowed them to plant gardens, which not only provide nutrition, but offer lessons in sustainability as well. We are fund-raising with a goal of Spring 2014 as a completion date.
Below, you can see photos of one of the recent improvements to the school, a playground, built for the children by Andrew Ndlovu.
