14 Mar 2016 Mugidi Primary Sanitation Project
Mugidi Primary, located in Acornhoek, has an attendance of 579 learners. Since our initial involvement with them in 2012, they have been able to greatly increase the yield of their vegetable garden and we recently installed a pressure pump to bring the water to the kitchen where the mothers prepare lunch for the young learners. The construction of new sanitation facilities is the latest ASoH project at the school. The photos of the current toilets show how dire the need for these improvements. The boys toilet lacks a roof and doors and the structural integrity of the girls’ toilet is compromised by a large crack in the wall, presenting great risk to those in or around this building, as this wall is imminently close to collapse. Construction on the new facilities is progressing nicely and we are hopeful that they are ready to use by the end of March 2016.
Water and Garden Improvements
We are always thrilled to see the changes water brings to our partner schools. It’s wonderful to see the expansion of the garden at Mugidi through the efforts of dedicated staff, learners, and volunteers.
